The stone sculpture “Wild Boar” was set up on 6 May 2013 after the Kandava region obtained its coat of arms, in which a black wild boar is depicted on a red background. The author of the sculpture is Aivars Kerliņš.
The wild boar symbolises power, courage, perseverance and untouched nature. Up to now, such heraldic image has not yet been used in the coat of arms of another town or region of Latvia.
