A monument dedicated to Johan Peter Brandt at the Engure church cemeterywas set up in year 1853. J.P.Brandt (1776-1835) started his service in Engure’s congregation in year 1804. He was also a teacher and the author of “Chronicles of Engure”, as well as the keeper of historical materials, therefore the inhabitants of Engure consider him as the local and call him the Old Stender.
