The bog is a natural preserve on the left bank of Abava River, approximately 1 km away from Kandava. Here, growing is a very rare post-glacial period plant – the shrubby cinquefoil (Pentaphylloides fruticosa) – a small shrub, which blooms during the months of June and July with yellow blossoms. Some day, the sulphur water flowing out of the bog and the mud were used in the local medical institutions. The nature trail through the bog is 2 km long.
