Kandava’s Lutheran Church

Description

Construction of the Kandava’s Lutheran Church building was completed in year 1736. Attention of the visitors of the Kandava’s Lutheran Church will be drawn to the ancient dark wood-carvings (dating back to the 17th century), the altar-piece (mid-19th century), organs (1864), two chandeliers (mid-19th century), and artworks by masters of applied arts. Next to the church is the Church Cemetery with a chapel and piled stone fencing. Parents and sisters of the prominent Latvian linguist, Kārlis Mīlenbahs, the first leaders of the town, and other eminent residents of Kandava have been buried here.
