The Ķemeri National Park was established in 1997 with the objective of preserving natural, cultural history and resortology values, to promote non-depleting management, tourism and environmental education. The National Park covers an area of 38,165 ha. It is the third largest national park in Latvia (after Gauja and Rāzna national parks). The most popular tourist attraction in the park is the Great Ķemeri Bog trail and the birdwatching tower on Lake Kaņieris.
